SLEEPYMEEPYMy travel to Taiwan for TCMPosted on February 7, 2015 by sleepymeepyI am preparing to travel to Taiwan to receive extensive Traditional Chinese medicine treatment (TCM)Since my brother died a year and a quarter ago, my family have of course been looking at the world rather differently My Lyme Disease treatment has cost them thousands of pounds and only made me more ill.  When I mentioned about my long held daydream about getting TCM in China, they were very supportive.  Didn’t think it should remain a daydream,One of my Taiwan penpals told me she was going to see her TCM doctor the following day.  We got talking and I told her about my daydream, too.  She was very keen.  She spoke to her TCM doctor about me.  They both did a lot of research,  turns out the TCM doctor was the university room-mate of my penpals boyfriend.Long story short.  My sister in law has arranged business class flights for me (so I can lie down all the way).  And because it’s Emirates they will pick me up in a limo!!!! And take me to airport.  Airport disability people will help me through the airport and to,the plane.Same at the 4 hour stop in Dubai (where I will be able to lie down in napping area in business class lounge). Then on to Taiwan to be met by another limo and taken to a studio flat in HsinChu near to,where my penpal lives (and, coincidentally, another penpal lives)My pal has arranged for care for me while I am there.  I am going for three months (TCM doctor would have liked longer, cos TCM treatments take a long time) but I have to get back.I will be taking my reclining wheelchair. I will be getting more care while I’m there than I do in UK, so I’m daydreaming about being pushed in the nearby park sometimes.I’m saying all this so you know the precautions I’ve taken to protect my health as much as possible.  I expect to be seriously crashed when I arrive (although adrenalin might make me keep going for a few days).  I’ve had advice from GP and specialists.I don’t want you to think I’m a fraud.  Travel is very difficult, especially as I can’t sit upright and tire and sleep so much. But I want to take this opportunity to try the TCM treatment.  Nothing else has worked so far.  And I speak a little a Chinese – hence the penpals. Also, I have to leave my flat for a while so landlord can try to sort out my damp problems (again) and install two extra radiators, thermostats valves and other stuff.Everyone who knows agrees there are just too many coincidences to,ignore, the opportunity.I’m hoping the better weather there will help me a bit – my GP and specialists think it will be good for me, too.  Although HsinChu is known as the Windy City, so I don’t know what that will be like.I’m hoping to video parts of the journey to show how I’ve managed it – lying down in limo. Lying in napping area, sleeping on lay flat beds on plane.  And, of course, some of the TCM Treatments.  I’m hoping to do a kind of blog to record it.Of course, it may be no,help at all.I’m not sharing this info widely for several reasons.Don’t want anyone to know my flat will be unoccupiedDon’t want to make anyone envious/jealousDon’t want people to,think I must be less ill, than I say.So I just want to share the full info with a few people and 25% severe ME group and severe ME chat and support.Simon and Aileen know  Even tho I have other medical issues, it’s the severe Meeps that concern me the most.  Even if I improved a bit, my heart will still be with severe me sufferers.  If anything that happens to me seems to help I will be delighted to share the info.  Just don’t want people hearing only part of the story.I,will, have internet in Taiwan.  It’s quite modern there. So I will still be able to be on Facebook and Moderating 25% group! but might be crashed for a week.  Although, knowing my luck I will be awake at silly o’clock with just Facebook to keep me company.I set off on 10’FebI would welcome any useful suggestions/advice on how to cope with the journey. And the treatment and anything else you might think of that could help me.I’ve bought some medical face masks cos I don’t want anybody’s germs, and also I suspect Taiwan might smell of exhaust fumes.  Petrol fumes make me quite ill,  diesel is the worst thing,  I also worry about taxis to the clinic because they brake and accelerate quite abruptly, I’m told.  It’s been suggested I hire a car and chauffeur for a half day because they drive more smoothly.  Or I was wondering if I could give a big tip to taxi drivers if they will drive more slowly and carefully.  Thank goodness their cost of living is much lower than ours.  Couldn’t even dream of doing some of this stuff here.I know how lucky I am to have this opportunity.  And I know I’m less severe than many members.  I hope you can enjoy my posts, but if will post them as attachments, so if anyone doesn’t want to see them they can just ignore them.  I don’t want to upset anyone who is very severe and can’t get out.  But I’m sharing in case you enjoy hearing about itOh, well, that’s it for now.  I’m so very tired.   Share this:TwitterFacebookGoogleLeave a commentLeave a Reply

Where I will be staying

Photos of the studio I will be using. My contacts in Taiwan chose this place so that I would feel safe. Security personnel staff the reception desk. And I I'm well enough, I can have a drink of tea in the large reception area.

My travel to Taiwan for TCM

I am preparing to travel to Taiwan to receive extensive Traditional Chinese medicine treatment (TCM)

Since my brother died a year and a quarter ago, my family have of course been looking at the world rather differently

My Lyme Disease treatment has cost them thousands of pounds and only made me more ill.  When I mentioned about my long held daydream about getting TCM in China, they were very supportive.  Didn’t think it should remain a daydream,

One of my Taiwan penpals told me she was going to see her TCM doctor the following day.  We got talking and I told her about my daydream, too.  She was very keen.  She spoke to her TCM doctor about me.  They both did a lot of research,  turns out the TCM doctor was the university room-mate of my penpals boyfriend.

I will be taking my reclining wheelchair. I will be getting more care while I’m there than I do in UK, so I’m daydreaming about being pushed in the nearby park sometimes.

I’m not sharing this info widely for several reasons.

Don’t want anyone to know my flat will be unoccupied

Don’t want to make anyone envious/jealous

Don’t want people to,think I must be less ill,than I say.

So I just want to share the full info with a few people and 25% severe ME group and severe ME chat and support.
